Easy Science Experiments For Kids: Magic trick with water

Here follow my instructions for the magic trick with water and superabsorbent experiment. The superabsorbent is a chemical commonly used in diapers. In this experiment, you can see the chemical in action.

Remember to start the experiment with a hypothesis, what do you think will happen?

Instructions for parents: Read this first.

Material included:

  • A teaspoon of superabsorbent
  • Water

Additional things you will need:

  • 4 teacups

  1. Gather the audience.
  2. Put the four teacups on the table and add one teaspoon superabsorbent in one of them.
  3. Pour water into the cup with the superabsorbent.
  4. Move the cups around properly. Have your audience watch the cup with water and ask them to try to remember where the water is.
  5. Wait for 45 seconds.
  6. Turn the cup with the superabsorbent around.
  7. Where is the water? It is “gone”. 😉
